This year, the « Next Generation Retail Summit » was organized in Geneva at the Hotel President Wilson from the 5-7April and followed on from the previous two events in Wiesbaden and London. The Summit provided a number of different networking channels to execute and promote business. It gathered together Supply Chain Managers, IT Directors, CIOs or Heads of Retail & Store Operations of brands including Auchan, Avon products, Bally shoes factory, Casino, Desigual, Hugo Boss, Levi-Strauss and Co ,Puma, Starbucks, Swarovski, Tommy Hilfiger, Triumph International and Walt Disney, among 120 attendees. We wanted to know more about the summit, the attendees’ expectations and innovations in this field.

It takes time to organize a summit like this. How many participants are there this year?
We have 65 senior level executives from the most progressive and forward thinking tier one & two retailers in Europe. They will be joined by 26 leading edge, best of breed solution providers. There is a combined total of 120 participants.
Last year you organized this summit in Wiesbaden, Germany and before that you were in London. Why did you choose Geneva this year?
We chose Geneva as a venue for the Next Generation Retail Summit due to the fantastic facilities and superb location. Geneva is a central European location with a well connected international airport. It has helped attract senior level executives from all over Europe.
What were the criteria for inviting participants?
The Next Generation Retail summit is a closed door invitation only gathering for senior level decision makers from the Europe Retail Industry.
What are your expectations for this Summit?
GDS International is the number one business to business events company in the world. We are experts in value creation and GDS summits are a good place to do business.
This kind of summit is more direct and effective. Do you think it represents the future for business events?
Yes, absolutely. We bring senior level executive togethers in two and half days of intense business discussions which provide huge value for sponsors and delegates alike. We support key verticals such as finance, manufacturing, utilities, telecom, oil and gas, and IT in doing business.
When and where will the Next Retail summit take place?
It will take place in Lisbon, Portugal from 13 -15 September 2011.
