Switzerland: SGS acquires VITROLOGY LTD
The Geneva-based inspection, verification, testing and certification group SGS has announced the acquisition of Vitrology LTD, a biopharmaceutical contract testing company based in Glasgow, Scotland.
Vitrology is involved in laboratory testing in various fields including virology, cells, molecular biology as well as in electronic microscopy.
The value of the transaction has not been revealed, however Vitrology, which was created in 2007 employing 38 people, had a turnover exceeding £3 million in 2011.
According to Chris Kirk, CEO of SGS, this new acquisition is essential in terms of their strategy of developing their presence in the virology and molecular biology fields withing SGS’s Life Science Services business.
