While it is still difficult in some companies for women to accede to executive positions, the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE), one of the largest associations for women professionals and business owners in the United States, has released its annual list of the top 50 companies for executive women. This ranking is based on their commitment to women’s empowerment, with the companies required to have at least two women on their Board of Directors and at least 1000 employees to be considered.
The top companies all put the focus on female representation at all levels but especially in leadership positions. With more than 200 questions, the NAFE also try to measure the possibilities for employees to have access to programs and policies that promote women’s empowerment.
Here are the results. In the top ten companies for 2013, 37% of KPMG's senior managers are women, while at Procter & Gamble it is 34% and 27% at IBM. Moreover, for the three of them, managers are trained to help women to advance.
