TagCrowd is a web application for visualizing word frequencies in any text by creating what is popularly known as a word cloud, text cloud or tag cloud. It was created by Daniel Steinbock while a Ph.D. student at Stanford University.
TagCrowd provides three different ways to create word clouds by:
TagCrowd makes a text easy to summarise, analyse and compare for a variety of useful purposes one of them being as a job search tool.
For example, if you want to highlight what employers are looking for in their job postings, you can get TagCrowd to go through the wording for you. It provides some neat visual indicators, such as making popular words appear in larger and/or bolder print. You can then make sure that these often-used words appear in your CV that fits with your experience.
You can also paste your CV in TagCrowd and the app will create an image representing the most common words, with the more common ones showing up larger and darker. With a quick glance, you’ll be able to see what terms the employer will most associate with you—and whether you need to adjust your CV to have the right terms stand out more.
