More than one million French workers were on the streets of France yesterday to demonstrate against revisions to Pension law. In an attempt to help cut the budget deficit, the government plans to raise the retirement age from 60 to 62 by 2018. The Labour Minister, Eric Woerth, stressed the need for the pension plan to pass through parliament. The government hopes to save 70 billion Euros by raising the retirement age; the length of time required for people to contribute to their pensions to 41.5 years, and the pensionable age to 67.
