France: Strike action continues to grow

Truck drivers in France have joined the nationwide protests against plans to increase the retirement and pensionable ages in France by two years, to 62 and 67 respectively. The drivers were involved in go-slow actions on motorways near Lille, Paris and Lyon.

Petrol stations are experiencing fuel supply problems as oil refineries are also being hit by a seventh day of walkouts and public transport has also been severely affected.

Despite these difficulties, a reported 70% of the population remain behind the strikes.
