How to keep my staff motivated ?
The Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario has pulled together some frightening national statistics for employers:
Absenteeism rates are up 30% from 1997, voluntary turnover rates in all sectors are also on the rise, and less than 20% of employees are highly engaged.
- First step: as a business leader you need to understand the culture and personality of the company.
- Second step: hire people who know what you have to offer and how you work. Your values mirror their own.
- Third step: give a sense of achievement and recognition to your employees who must be able to measure their own performance and know that the company is measuring and recognizing that performance.
- Fourth step: develop a management strategy, less controlling and allowing people to have a say and make the decision that’s right for the company.
