The decision to keep a production site in Nyon has been made by the Basel based group Novartis.
Propositions made by the employees and experts last month have been accepted by the management, with the latter also deciding to make a significant investment to develop this factory. In addition, Novartis is considering relocating some production lines from foreign countries to the site in Prangins. The workers who were working 37.5 hours a week will now work 40 hours a week while declining to take some of the salary increase foreseen in the collective bargaining agreement for 2011-2012.
The federal councillor, Johann Schneider-Ammann and the Bâle government have applauded the decision by the pharmaceutical company.
