Acas is to try and get British Airways and the Unite union back to the negotiating table as the latest five day strike by cabin crew enters its second day.
BA says that more and more staff have been reporting for work during each stoppage which has enabled it to run more services. Unite asserts that over 100 flights were cancelled on Sunday and that its strikes continue to command strong support among members.
Unite has warned it could call for a new strike ballot in the next week or so, with further action possibly starting as soon as 5 June. At the same time, it has also offered to suspend industrial action if management reinstate travel perks lost by staff who went out on strike in March.
