UK: BA and Union in negotiations
British Airways and the Unite union are continuing negotiations aimed at avoiding 12 days of strikes due to start on 22 December and with the potential to affect 1000 000 passengers. At the same time, BA is challenging the legality of the strike action in the High Court, alleging that 1 000 votes from ex-staff were wrongly included in the vote. The strike action is over changes to working conditions and a 2-year pay freeze for staff. BA is looking to reduce its workforce by 12.7%, or 4 900 posts out of the current 38 704, by 31 March 2010.
