UK: Coca Cola loses its fizz for staff

Unite members at seven Coca Cola facilities across the UK are to hold protests against what the union has described as ‘attacks on jobs and pay’. While the union asserts that the ‘recession-resistant company’ is using the economic crisis as an excuse to reduce pay and jobs, Coca Cola has said it is merely looking to find a ‘single, consistent way’ of working for its UK, Belgian, Dutch and French units.

Coca Cola added that that any changes could lead to 120 existing UK jobs disappearing, with 130 new positions and ‘other opportunities’ being created.
