After the report from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) showing that the number of people finding permanent jobs across all sectors grew at the slowest rate for a year, there is some cheering news for City workers.

According to the recruitment firm Ambition, there were 10 candidates chasing every 11 vacancies in the City in the third quarter of 2010, up from three positions for every ten jobseekers in the first quarter of 2009. The company did sound a note of caution though, predicting that such job growth would fall back in the next quarter as a result of economic uncertainty.

In other news, KPMG has revealed that it intends to hire for 8000 posts over the next three years, 3000 of which will be in the UK.
