AstraZeneca staff are to strike over changes to the company’s pension scheme. With the defined benefit (DB) scheme running a deficit of £1.4bn, its members face the choice of continuing to pay in but have their pensionable benefits frozen at current levels or change to a defined contribution (DC) plan.

A two-hour strike is planned for 8 September, followed by one of four hours on 15 September and a 24-walkout on 22 September.
