UK: Job vacancy growth slows further

The UK jobs market appears to be continuing to weaken, with growth in the number of job openings being the slowest in the last twelve months.

At the same time, the report from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) showed that the number of people finding permanent jobs also grew at the slowest rate for a year.

Private sector demand for engineering, construction and executive staff has picked up while public sector opportunities have fallen dramatically.

Unemployment currently stands at 2.47 million, or 7.8%.
