UK: Jobless total down to 2.45 million

New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show a decline of 0.1% in the UK unemployment rate for the three months to August, to stand at 7.7%. This equates to a fall of 20 000 in the jobless total and in the same period, 178 000 more people found employment.

The ONS also reported that the number of people unemployed and claiming benefit rose by 5300 to 1.47million in September.
