UK: New Cadburys owners to go ahead with plant closure
Following their successful takeover of the British confectionery group Cadburys, Kraft has said that it will press on with plans to close the Cadburys plant in Bristol which were first announced in 2007. During Kraft’s hostile bid for Cadburys, the company had said that they hoped to keep the facility in Keynsham open. However, once they gained full control of the company, Kraft said they had discovered that relocation of the plants facilities to Poland were ‘too advanced’ to cancel. With 400 jobs due to go, the Unite union said that the move would raise concerns amongst all of Cadburys 4 500 employees with regard to their future relationship with the company.
