2000 jobs are set to be created at the Poundland discount retailer this year after it announced plans to open 50 new stores around the UK.

The Chief Executive credited the continuing ‘economic uncertainity’ with providing the market for his shops which sell everything for £1. The company currently employs 7 500 people, with 2000 of those filling full- and part-time jobs created in the financial year to March 2010.
