UK: Widespread public sector disruption in the offing?

With government spending cuts due to be announced this week, a survey from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development reveals that 49% of public workers are ready to take strike action over any pay cuts or pension plan changes.

At the same time, 87% of private sector businesses in a survey by the Hays recruitment company believe that public sector employees do not have enough market knowledge to transfer into the private sector. 90% of the 348 employers intervewed also said they discounted public sector experience in their hiring decisions.
