US: 125 000 jobs lost in June

by | Juil 5, 2010 | Actualités, Archives

According to the US Labor Department, some 125 000 jobs were lost in the United States in June, a figure which was in no small part due to the loss of 225 000 temporary posts which had been created to manage the US census in May. At the same time, 83 000 private sector jobs were created, a rise when compared to May but fewer than in the two preceding months.

Overall, the rate of US unemployment fell 0.2% to reach 9.5%, although this figure was a result of people no longer looking for work and therefore not officially being counted as unemployed.
