USA: Second month of job losses calls economic recovery into question

131000 jobs were lost in July, the second successive month in which the employment figures worsened. The figures were exacerbated by the loss of 143 000 temporary positions which had been required to compile the US census. Despite the unemployment rate of 9.5% not being affected by the loss, the figure indicates that economic growth has slowed these past months. For example, only 71 000 jobs were created in the private sector.
